Spring and Fall tax statements will be mailed on Friday, April 1, 2011.

The Spring installment will be due on May 10, 2011 and the Fall installment will be due on November 10, 2011.

You may access your amounts due by clicking on "tax information". Enter your name and click on "search". Click on the reference number beside your name and your information should come up.

The majority of taxes are higher this year than last year. One of the reasons is that the State homestead credits have been phased out. Other factors could be changes in assessed values or the fact that agriculture land values are higher this year.

You will also notice that there is a new solid waste fee added. This fee is either $12 or $24 depending on where you live within the county. This fee is all due with the May installment of taxes. Questions concerning the solid waste fee may be answered at the Wabash County Solid Waste Management District at 563-7649.

You may pay your taxes at the following local banks:

Bippus State Bank
Crossroads Bank
First Farmers Bank
First Financial Bank
First Merchants Bank
Mutual Bank (if you have an account there)

If you would like to pay in person in the Wabash County Treasurer's Office we are open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

You may pay by mail without penalties as long as your envelope is postmarked on or before May 10th.
I would suggest if you mail your payment on May 10th that you ask the post office to hand stamp the date. In the past we have payments that were put in the mail box on the due date but did not get postmarked until the next day. Those taxpayers had to pay a penalty for late payment.

If you would like to receive a receipt when paying your taxes by mail please include a self-addressed, stampted envelope and we will send you a paid receipt.

Also for your convenience there is a drop box located outside the judicial building off of the court house parking lot.

Your tax statement will have the same look this year as last year. The customer's receipt will be located on the left hand side of the statement.
